Remote Desktop Services (RDS)
inSync Computer Solutions has been a Microsoft Certified Partner since 1994. Our Microsoft Certified IT Professionals (MCITP) have expertise designing, integrating, managing and maintaining Microsoft Remote Desktop Services for our SMB and enterprise clientele.
We are also certified Citrix professionals. There are specific reasons when RDS or Citrix is more appropriate. As part of our IT services, we provide the cost/benefit analysis of which technology is more appropriate given your environment and intended use.
RDS Certified Consultants
With Windows Server® 2008 R2 Remote Desktop Services (RDS), Microsoft provides a virtualization platform for desktop and application deployments from the data center to any device. In addition to the traditional session virtualization scenario (formerly known as “Terminal Services”), Remote Desktop Services also provides a platform for a Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI).
RDS is a cost-effective infrastructure platform for the SMB market, particularly those with a roaming workforce, structured task workers or knowledge workers with the need for flexible desktop or application access, including contractors, offshore workers and office workers - that require a free seating environment or have a need to work from home.
Virtualization with RDS
RDS allows the installation and management of session-based desktops and applications, or virtual-machine based desktops on centralized servers in the data center. With RDS, screen images are delivered to the users, and the users' client machines in turn send keystrokes and mouse movements back to the server.
When using Remote Desktop Services, our engineers can configure users to have an entire desktop environment, or they can uniquely configure the desktops with the applications and data which are required to complete the users' tasks.
From a user's perspective, theRDS desktop integrates their applications seamlessly. The look, feel, and behavior of their RDS desktop is the same as if they were hosted locally versus the datacenter.

RDS benefits our SMB market. However, an analysis has to be performed to determine whether RDS is an appropriate solution or whether Citrix is the better environment. Citrix is more of an enterprise solution and has benefits over RDS in certain environments.
