Project:
Network Optimization

A large freight forwarder provides worldwide container transportation and logistics services. Located in Long Beach, California.

Task 1: inSync provided a performance evaluation/baselining of the current network (wired and wireless) to ascertain whether any areas of immediate risk exist. This task was broken into three subtasks:

Subtask one was a full physical audit of the existing network cable plant and switches. Each switch was located and their connection documented.

Subtask two was a comprehensive review of current bandwidth utilization. For this task, Vital Net data for the Terminal Island switches was extracted from the Vital Net server to a server at In Sync. The data was then analyzed and plotted.

Subtask three was a Gap Analysis. The purpose of this task determined if there were immediate improvements that could be made to the network architecture prior to a full network redesign.

The final part of this task was the Gap Analysis. The Gap Analysis provided interim solutions to their existing network issues that were able to be immediately implemented while a full redesign was progressing. In particular, analyzing the items needed to support the implementation of the Crane OCR and to improve the fault tolerance of the network.

Task two was the design and implementation for a partial network upgrade to support the immediate requirements of their upcoming project, the Crane OCR project. Also provided the installation services and the project management services to ensure successful execution. top

Project:
Multi-platform Network Support.

inSync provides multi-platform support (UNIX, Linux, Novell, Windows) as well as all network integration, maintenance & support for Sparta’s corporate business office.  Sparta, a $300 million aerospace engineering corporation, has over 60 internal workstations and a complex server farm with multiple UNIX, Novell and Microsoft Servers. These servers provide Information System support to both the internal users as well as over 700 employees working nationwide.

Sparta's 13 offices are interconnected with a WAN which uses an MCI frame relay and point to point circuits connected by various models of Cisco routers.  In Sync's engineers designed, configured, implemented, & currently maintains this architecture including the support for the routers & network.

inSync's Chief Technology Officer sits on Sparta's network steering group.  This group is responsible for the design and implementation of all network services down to the desktop. It performs research and analysis into current technologies to assist in the design decision-making process.

In addition to supporting the analysis and decision-making process, inSync represents the concerns of the corporate business office. These include issues such as connectivity to project management reporting, the accounting system, time card entry and purchasing. top

Project:
Design, Integrate City-wide WAN

inSync designed, configured & integrated the city's wide area network. The design included the configuration of the Cisco routers & firewall, located in the City Hall, in order to network the City’s 13 parks to City Hall.

The new wide area network provided the capability to utilize voice, fax & video conferencing over IP.  It also provided the City Hall staff the ability to telecommute, in accordance with the topology diagram provided by the City.  To that end, inSync’s engineers did the following:

  • Replaced the existing firewall equipment & software at City Hall with Cisco PIX.

  • Configured & installed the Cisco 3600 series for telecommuting.

  • Configured & integrated the Cisco 7000 series router.

  • Configured & installed each of the Cisco 1700 series routers at each park, point to point. top

Project:
Secure, stable remote access. Ongoing maintenance.

A law firm based in Costa Mesa, California.

Our client is currently undergoing a phase of rapid growth. Their primary challenge is remote access to client files and group collaboration data located on servers within their corporate office. There are a significant number of attorneys on staff who travel within the United States, including remote locations in Alaska, who need to be able to access essential business data.

inSync provided these remote users, stable remote access by utilizing cellular and broadband networks as a means of maintaining overall efficiency and productivity. Given the sensitive nature of their data, inSync also upgraded their overall network security.

Moving forward, our client has procured a new facility with plans for expansion and the desire to merge state-of-the-art technology, secure remote access and seamless business applications. top

Project:
Implementing a Citrix solution to connect remote offices.
Disaster recovery solution.

A builders' lending company based in Costa Mesa, California.

With a corporate headquarters and two remote offices, our client's primary challenge was to have all remote offices access the shared loan documents and customer applications.

Seven years ago, inSync took over their network and since then has performed two infrastructure upgrades and three wide area connection changes. Our client's users utilize two Citrix Metframe XP servers configured in an application farm.

In addition to maintaining the LAN/WAN for HCC, inSync also planned and implemented an active disaster recovery system located in San Mateo, California. The data in the San Mateo office is being restored and tested every quarter. top

Project:
To provide ongoing network & software support.

A Federal contractor with corporate offices in Irvine, California, as well as 25 satellite offices in military and local government facilities throughout the United States.

Our client has a stated commitment to keep their mission critical IT infrastructures up-to-date. They initially hired inSync to oversee their hardware and software upgrades. inSync upgraded their Windows and Exchange servers to the current version, and our engineers also upgraded their existing Citrix server to a more state-of-the-art server.

In the process, their existing Windows 2000 Active Directory domain was upgraded to current product levels as well.

inSync also provides software support. inSync's programmers are helping to refine, consolidate and support this client's software, Deltek's Costpoint. Costpoint is their accounting, human resources and business planning software application. top

Project:
Connecting Remote Offices

A building company, located in Irvine  California,  currently building houses in three sites within Inland Empire. With each of these sites possessing a sales office, our client's challenge was to have these remote sales offices access  the database located at their corporate office.

inSync upgraded our client's old Windows 2000 server to the current version of Windows and introduced Cisco firewall technology into the environment. By utilizing existing high speed internet connections, configuring Virtual Private Networks (VPN) as well as Terminal Services, inSync made it possible for the sales branches to access and utilize their database in Irvine.

Project:
Connecting remote offices with a Citrix Solution

Our client, a public relations firm with offices in Los Angeles and New York, has over 300 users. inSync designed and implemented a thin client network architecture that moved all of their servers to the Los Angeles facility.  The network utilizes Citrix technology to supply office automation and business software to each desktop.  In Sync provides ongoing network integration, maintenance & support to our client's internal IT Staff.

inSync designed & integrated a load-balanced Citrix farm for our client's mission critical servers.  As part of this upgrade, we upgraded their current Citrix Metaframe from NT 4.0 to a Windows Terminal Server as well as upgraded their Office to the current version.

inSync implemented a second Windows Terminal Server with the Citrix add-on and created a load balanced Citrix Farm for additional reliability and performance.  After this upgrade, the users were evenly distributed between the two servers.  If one of the Citrix servers goes down, the load-balancing allows the other Server to handle the entire load until the downed server is back on line. top
